Hormone Pellet Therapy

Bio identical hormone pellet implants offers hormone balancing that works!

What are Hormone Pellets?

They are compressed cylinders – smaller than a Tic Tac – of testosterone or occasionally estradiol. Implants are gently placed under the skin and consistently release small doses. This is one of the most effective methods for both women and men.

Why Pellets?

They constantly deliver a healthy level of hormone into the body, so you avoid the annoying roller coaster effect that is common with every other method of delivery. They do not increase the risk of blood clots, which is a problem common to conventional and synthetics.

Dr. Baughman introduced me to hormone pellet therapy, and it is the best thing to happen in my life. I feel twenty years younger – and my husband couldn’t be happier!”

Frequently Asked Questions

I tried hormone replacement therapy and it didn’t work. Will pellets work for me?

The implants are highly successful for people who have had poor results with other treatments. No other method of hormone delivery is as convenient. They have been in use for over 70 years. There is more data to support their effectiveness than any other method of delivery.

How are these pellets inserted?

It is a simple, relatively painless procedure that only requires a small incision under local anesthesia. They are usually inserted into the lower abdominal wall or upper buttocks through a small incision, which is taped (not stitched) closed.

Are there any side effects?

Other than light bruising or temporary skin discoloration, complications from the insertion procedure are rare. Minor bleeding, bruising, skin discoloration, and possible extrusion may occur. Testosterone may cause a slight increase in facial hair in some women. After placement, avoid vigorous exercise for three days.

Why haven’t I heard of these before?

Pellets are not patented and have not been widely marketed in the u.s. they are frequently used in Europe and Australia, where pharmaceutical companies produce them.

I am pre-menopausal. Will hormone pellets help me?

Yes! they can help:

  • Relieve Migraines
  • Reduce Menstrual Headaches
  • Help with PMS Symptoms
  • Ease Anxiety and Depression
  • Improve Sex Drive and Libido

When will I start feeling the benefits?

Some patients begin to feel better within one or two days, while others may find it takes a week or more.

How long do they last?

They usually last 3-5 months for women and 4-6 months for men. They dissolve completely and do not need to be removed.

Bone Density Issues

Question: I have bone density issues (osteoporosis and osteopenia) and can implants help me.

Answer: Certainly there are studies, but let me give you an current example. The lab report for one of my patients indicated that after two bio-identical hormone implants. In comparison to the previous study from this lab, the bone mineral density in the spine has increased 5.0% and increased 10.0% in the femoral neck.”

The report went on to say that there were small decreases in lumbar spine bone density compared to a year ago, and also regarding total hip bone density. The overall report, however, is encouraging, and we will be keeping a close watch on this patient’s future DXA Bone Densitometry reports.
